Fri 22 Jul 2022 Mrs Shaw

  • Platinum Jubilee - all about the Queen!

    Sun 29 May 2022

In our learning this week the children have found out all about the commonwealth, what happened in each of the Queens decades of ruling and about all her castles and where she lives. As well as all this each child has written a letter to Queen Elizabeth II and created their own portrait using a range of media. These will be on display in school for the rest of the term. Why not pop in and take a look?

  • Platinum Jubilee Celebration Assembly

    Sun 29 May 2022 Mrs P Shaw

What a way to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee!

Parents, Grandparents, children and staff all came together to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee with singing, dancing, presentations and cake! Acorns had a parade of their crowns, the youngest and oldest pupils in the school cut our special Jubilee cakes. We sang 'Rise and Serve' especially written for the occasion, along with 'The Lords My Shepherd', the Queens favourite hymn. Hawthorns performed their winning dance from Hairspray and eveyone got to their feet to join in Dancing Queen. The afternoon was finished with a whole school picnic in glorious sunshine. A super afternoon! Many thanks to Karen Howe for donating the Jubilee cakes and the PTA for providing the refreshments and ice-creams.

  • A Natural Queen!

    Sun 29 May 2022 Mrs P Shaw

To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee Hawthorns class have been outdoors to use natural materials to design Queen Elizabeth II a new crown. They also had a go at creating the Union Jack flag and Buckingham Palace. Some rose to the challenge of creating a new Queen Elizabeth portrait - Amazing what you can do with leaves and twigs! What could you create?

  • Rabbits, Rabbits Everywhere! Art workshop day May 2022

    Sun 29 May 2022 Mrs P Shaw

Rabbits from our Art Day! Our School hall is now full of rabbits of all different shapes and sizes. Super skills used by everyone to create these very life like creatures. A huge thank you to the parish council for funding our art day. A special Thank you to Becky Gouverneur, local artist from Winslow, who came into school to teach the children new art skills using chalk and charcoal. The children learned how to use shading and texture to create some amazing pictures of rabbits - just like the ones we see playing on the school field and in our nature area.

Fri 17 Sep 2021 Mrs Shaw

What a super day we had today! We learned lots of different skipping techniques and worked hard at the challenges to beat our personal bests. Well done to Lilly in year 5 and Mrs Taylor for having the highest number of skips and an amazing teacher pupil skip off!

We were also delighted that Greg Smith our MP was able to visit and present the certificates to the most improved athletes and also our learning certificates of the week.

  • New Outdoor Area for EYFS and Key STage 1

    Thu 25 Feb 2021 Mrs P Shaw

    Our Playground Developments

We are delighted to announce that our playground developments are complete!

We have installed a new timber outdoor canopy against our EYFS classroom to create an undercover physical activity zone. Our children can now play outdoors no matter what the weather conditions are like!

Moreover, we have also included a fantastic moveable obstacle course in this area in the form of a set of Get Set, Go! Blocks. The children can balance, step and climb from block to block and work together to move them around, creating their very own obstacle course. We are looking forward to fully utilising this brand-new space once all of our children return to school.

For this project, we worked with Pentagon Play, who design and install outdoor learning environments for schools and nurseries.
