Our policy is based on the concept that a school uniform:
· promotes a sense of pride in the school;
· fosters a feeling of community and belonging;
· is practical and smart;
· sets a high standard of appearance, whilst remaining cost effective.

Our school uniform consists of the following:
Burgundy sweatshirts or cardigans with Great Horwood School Logo
Grey trousers or shorts
Grey skirt or pinafore dress
White shirt or blouse with collar or polo shirt
White, grey or black socks or tights
Black shoes
Blue/White checked (Gingham) dresses can be worn in the summer
Children should also wear black sensible school shoes which are suitable for playground activities, shoes with heels and boots are not allowed. School shoes to be worn during all parts of the day. Pupils will need a pair of black trainers in school everyday to change into at break and lunch time, for PE and other outdoor lessons as specified by the class teacher.
PE
Blue sports polo shirt with Great Horwood School logo
Shadow stripe navy shorts (these are available from My Clothing)
Plimsolls (EYFS and KS 1) for indoor PE activities
Black trainers for outdoor activities
Navy tracksuits for colder months
Matching plain white, grey or black socks (tights are not permitted to be worn for PE)
General
Jewellery should not be worn at school for reasons of safety and security. However, children with pierced ears may wear small, plain stud ear-rings, which must be removed for PE.
Watches may be worn at the child’s own risk. Fitbits are not allowed to be worn in school.
Long hair should be tied back at all times and short hair in a suitable style for school. ‘
Hair accessories should be plain - navy or burgundy in colour (available from My Clothing)
No make-up or nail varnish to be worn in school.
All children need a clear & labelled water bottle bought into school daily.
An apron or old shirt to protect clothing during art/design technology lessons may also be required as directed by the class teacher.
Children may wear caps or hats to protect themselves from the sun or adverse weather conditions. All headwear must be of plain colour.
Children need to come to school in a coat suitable for the forecast weather conditions each day. During break times and lunch children will still be going outside even in cold windy conditions and light rain.
Any request to change uniform on religious grounds can be applied for. Please apply in writing to the Headteacher.
