Welcome to Great Horwood Church of England School.

I hope that this website gives you a flavour of our fantastic school where children and learning are at the heart of everything we do. I hope that you are able to find the information you require and warmly invite you to come for a visit. Please call the school office to book your visit to our school.

Mrs Paula Shaw (Headteacher)

Meet just a few of our amazing children! We are very proud of them all.

Welcome from the Headteacher

A warm welcome to Great Horwood Church of England school’s website where we 'learn and grow together’.

I hope that you find the information about our school useful; it is intended to give you a flavour of our school community.

Overlooking beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside, Great Horwood is a well-resourced, rural primary school and nursery with pupils ranging in age from rising 3 to 11 years.

As a Church of England school our clearly defined Christian vision and values of love, perseverance and respect provide a solid foundation for the life of the whole school.  Our strong links with St James’s the village church and the role the school plays at the heart of the village community are extremely important to us all.

We prioritise pupil happiness, welfare and safety and all-round achievement. We listen to and value each individual because everyone’s views matter.  We recognise and celebrate the special contribution made by every child in their learning journey.  In return we expect children to demonstrate a caring attitude to each other and their environment.

Great Horwood School has a commitment to high achievement and raising standards and we pride ourselves in having the highest expectations of what pupils can achieve academically, socially and spiritually.  Pupils enjoy learning through high quality teaching and a rich and creative curriculum that evolves annually to ensure learning experiences remain relevant to our young people.

A real strength of the school is the close co-operation and commitment that exists between members of the school community.  We value highly the partnership between home and school and encourage all parents to take an active part in their child’s education.

Our school is a very happy, creative and hardworking environment where children flourish through academic, athletic and creative studies, and where staff, parents, church members and governors work effectively in partnership.

It is a privilege to be a part of each child’s learning journey and we hope that by the time our pupils leave Great Horwood Church of England School they are well-rounded, considerate and confident individuals, who are successful life-long learners and responsible citizens.

I look forward to welcoming you and your child to the school, and our pupils would be delighted to give you more information during a tour.
