Learning at Home Together
Supporting Your Child’s Learning at Home
At Seedlings Nursery & Pre-School, we believe parents and carers play a vital role in their child’s learning journey. Research shows that family and community influence around 80% of a child’s achievement, while schools contribute about 20%. That means what happens at home really matters!
Creating a positive home learning environment helps children thrive. Simple, everyday activities like sharing books, chatting, singing songs and rhymes make a big difference.
Here are some ways we can work together:
How You Can Help
- Be Aware: Your involvement is powerful! Every conversation, story, and game helps your child learn.
- Get Informed: Reading together, talking about your day, and singing nursery rhymes are some of the best ways to support learning.
- Try These Ideas:
- Build a tower with boxes from the kitchen.
- Make a cosy den in the garden or living room.
- Let your child style your hair for fun!
- Join In: When we invite you to events, they’re relaxed and fun—think digging, making bird feeders, or decorating boxes. And yes, there will be tasty treats like homemade cakes or pizza!
- Stay Flexible: We offer lots of ways to get involved—borrowing bedtime books, receiving tips by text or newsletter, joining “Stay and Play” sessions, or popping in for story time at the end of the day.
- Keep Going: Every family is different, so we’ll keep trying until we find what works for you. Together, we can make learning exciting and enjoyable for your child.
