KS1 Information & Resources!

What should Home Learning look like?

The following is an expectation of learning that should be completed weekly at home.

Reading:

Children should be reading their reading book sent home for at least 5 minutes daily. It is important that this book is read as this is matched according to their phonetic knowledge and recalls sounds taught in order to embed them. Discussion with an adult around the text is also crucial to ensure the child has understood what they have read.

Questions could include: Who is the main character? Where did they go? How do you know that? etc.

Please ensure reading records are signed so that there is evidence of reading at home.

Please continue to allow reading for pleasure as this continues to model to children a love for reading!

Alongside this, Lexia Core 5 is to be completed for at least 20 minutes a week.

Maths:

Children should be focusing on their number recognition, recalling number bonds, multiplication facts for 2's, 5's and 10's and developing mental strategies for addition and subtraction.

In order to achieve this, SumDog is to be completed for at least 20 minutes a week to continuously build these skills.

Spellings:

Spellings will be set on a Friday and tested the following Friday. They will consist of spelling rules and high frequency/common exception words. These will be made accessible on Google Classroom to complete.
